BEDROOM AREA RUG SIZING + linked favorites!
DON’T SHRINK YOUR SPACE
Rugs are often the unsung heroes of interior design. While furniture and decor often grab attention, a well-chosen rug can tie an entire room together, adding warmth, texture, and visual interest. And in the bedroom, where we seek comfort and relaxation, choosing the right rug is essential.
RUG SIZE MATTERS
One of the most common mistakes people make when choosing a bedroom rug is buying one that's too small. A rug that's too small can visually shrink your space and make the furniture appear disproportionate.
A great way to test out different rug sizes before you buy is to use painter's tape to mark out the shapes and sizes on the floor. This allows you to see how the rug will look in the space and make sure it's the right fit.
RUGS AS THE 5TH WALL
Think of your bedroom rug as a fifth wall, a blank canvas waiting to be filled with color, pattern, and personality. Whether you're renting and unable to paint or prefer a more flexible design approach, rugs offer a fantastic opportunity to inject your unique style into your space.

PLAY WITH COLOR AND PATTERN
The color and pattern of your rug can have a significant impact on the overall feel of your bedroom. Want to create a calming oasis? Opt for soft neutrals and geometric patterns. Looking for a more vibrant energy? Go bold with rich jewel tones and abstract designs.

Remember, rugs are an easier way to experiment with color and pattern than painting your walls. If you're unsure where to start, take inspiration from your existing furniture or artwork. And don't be afraid to mix and match different patterns and textures for a truly unique look.

BONUS RUG TIPS
Contrast is Key: Lighter rugs will accentuate dark furniture and vice versa.
Stay in Place: Keep thin rugs in place with a non-slip rug pad.
Heated Floors: Avoid hand-tufted rugs if you have heated floors, as the heat can damage the rug.
Pile Direction: Hand-knotted rugs can change their appearance depending on the direction of the pile. If you're not happy with the initial color, try turning the rug 180 degrees.
